R Helfer: Josef HELFER family, 1880s
I am looking for any information on the family of Josef HELFER and Apollonia MOLNAR.

Josef was born in Schwabenitz, Moravia, around 1833, a son of Jakob HELFER and Barbara DVORAK; Apollonia was born in Szilas, Temes, in 1842, a daughter of Janos MOLNAR and Maria HLAVATY or HORVATH. They were married in 1859 in Vecseháza, Krassó-Szörény. They lived in Vasziova or Nemetbogsan during the 1880s, moving to Temesvár some time in the 1890s.

I know of these children:
Francisca, * 1861 in Vecseháza, same year
Stefan, * 1863 in Vecseháza, living in 1910 in Temesvár
Jakob, * 1866 in Vecseháza, before 1945 in Fehertemplom
Apollonia (or Paulina), * 1868 in Vecseháza, 1875
Julius, * 1870 in Honoros, 1957 in Chicago
Thomas, * 1873 in Vecseháza, same year
Anton, * 1875 in Vasziova, 1942 in Fehertemplom
Mathilde Maria, * 1877 in Vasziova, living in 1901
Janos, * 1880 in Vasziova, 1882

Not related and not researching the surnames. Just thought I give you some sites concerning Moravia aka Czech Republic.

To locate a town in CZ use : http://mapy.atlas.cz
The CZ's phone site at http://phone.quick.cz is listing a surname HELFER in Milonice and Bucovice. Surname DVORAK still lists in town of Svabenice's phone book.
A good locator of a town whose name is misspelled or from the old regime is :
www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm
The town of Schwabenitz is now Svabenice, Czech Republic.

Thanks, Zlatica. I hadn't seen some of these sites before, especially the Czech Republic map site and the telephone directory -- they should be very useful.
